Biography

Zhen Zhang received his Ph. D. in management science and engineering from Dalian University of Technology in 2014. He also holds a B.S. in Engineering Management from China University of Petroleum (East China). From Oct. 2012 to Nov. 2013, he was a visiting Ph. D. student with the Decision Systems and e-Service Intelligence Laboratory, Centre for Quantum Computation & Intelligent Systems, University of Technology, Sydney under the supervision of Prof. Jie Lu (AO, FIEEE) and A/Prof. Guangquan Zhang. He was also a visiting scholar with the Department of Computer Science, University of Jaén from Nov. 2016 to Dec. 2016. He is now a professor and a deputy director of the Institute of Systems Engineering, School of Economics and Management, Dalian University of Technology, as well as a core member of the Creative Research Group supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC).

His current research interests include computing with words, group decision making, multi-criteria decision making, preference learning, and complex network. He authored one monograph and more than 70 papers on refereed journals and conference proceedings, including European Journal of Operational Research,IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems, IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems, IEEE Transactions on Computational Social Systems, Omega, Journal of the Operational Research Society, Annals of Operations Research, Computers & Operations Research, Knowledge-Based Systems, Computers & Industrial Engineering, Information Fusion, Information Sciences, Applied Soft Computing, among others. He is the principal investigator of four research projects funded by the NSFC and the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, as well as a chief investigator of other research projects funded by the NSFC and the Chinese Ministry of Education.

Dr. Zhang servers as an associate editor of Group Decision and Negotiation (ABS 2, FMS-B, SSCI, IF=3.6), Journal of Ambient Intelligence and Humanized Computing (IF: 3.662), Frontiers in Applied Mathematics and Statistics (IF: 1.3), Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence (IF: 3.0) and Frontiers in Big Data (IF: 2.4), an area editor of International Journal of Computational Intelligence Systems (SCI, IF: 2.5), an editorial board member of  Information Fusion (SCI, IF: 14.8) and IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management (ABS 3, FMS-A, SCI/SSCI, IF: 4.6), an editorial advisory board member of Kybernetes (SCI, IF: 2.5), an academic editor of Complexity (SCI, IF: 1.7), a guest editor of Group Decision and Negotiation and Systems (SSCI, IF: 2.3), the vice secretary-general of the Business Intelligence Professional Committee of the Chinese Society for Management Modernization (CSMM) and the Data Science and Knowledge Systems Engineering Branch, Systems Engineering Society of China (SESC) and the secretary of the Big Data and Knowledge Management Branch Editorial Board, Management Science and Engineering Volume of Encyclopedia of China (The 3rd edition). Since 2010, he has been a peer reviewer for more than 100 ISI-indexed international journals and 20 international conferences, such as EJOR, IISE Transactions, IEEE-TFS, IEEE-TSMC, IEEE-TCYB, IEEE-TEM, IEEE-TCSS, IEEE-TNNLS, IEEE-TAI, ANOR, JORS and INFFUS. He is also a senior member of IEEE, a member of INFORMS, EUSFLAT, Operations Research Society of China (ORSC), Chinese Society of Optimization, Overall Planning and Economic Mathematics (CSOOPEM), Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI), Chinese Association of Automationof China (CAA), China Computer Federation (CCF) and SESC. In Sep. 2019, Dr. Zhang was awarded the Publons Global Peer Review Awards sponsored by Clarivate Analytics to honor his contribution for peer review in both Computer Science and Cross-Field.
